Last Day of Daycare

Today was it, the last day that Sweetpea went to her daycare. She starts school on Wednesday but she is spending Monday and Tuesday home with dad. She was very excited about it. We didn't really think about the emotional side of her last day at all. Then DH called me at work after he dropped her off and said that he is quote "..such a pussy" (please excuse the language). He said he got in there and stopped to see the teacher that has adopted Sweetpea as her own since she was an infant and then he began to cry. Then he took her to her room and talked to her current teachers and they asked him if he was crying. So he spent awhile there taking her around to her favorite teachers to say goodbye. DH said that it is funny just because 5 years ago when he dropped her off for the first time he didn't cry then but he cries today. I can't say much because I'm sure I will be a wreck on Wednesday. I picked her up and she gave her "new" boyfriend several hugs and off we went, no tears on her part. I got a little chocked up though when I read the card her one teacher gave her. It is something I will definately save for her to see when she gets big. Now the countdown begins....a few more days to go and my baby will be in kindergarten.

I can only imagine what your DH would be like when Sweatpea graduates from high school and heads off for college.

I fully understand crying on the last day at daycare. When Princess had her last day at the previous/first center I got a bit sentimental. We were moving her because the quality had gone down hill. But after 1.5 years I had become friends with the teachers and staff and watched her with her classmates since they were 12 weeks old. Its comfortable and familiar and hard to say goodbye.

Let us know how things go on Wednesday.

I was a mess at K drop-off with Older Girl. I managed to hold it together until I got to the car, but it wasn't pretty. Rob and I took The Boy out to breakfast to "celebrate" but I really just drowned my sorrows in pancakes and scrapple.

But I am happy to report that subsequent years have been a piece of cake for all concerned :) And I didn't cry at all when The Boy went to school. I guess I got it all out of my system. Although we still go out to breakfast, just for the heck of it :)

Good Luck!
